Biography
Marta Casanellas is an associate professor at UPC. She did her PhD in mathematics at UB and a postdoc at UC Berkeley with a Fulbright grant. After obtaining a Ramon y Cajal grant she moved her research field towards the applications of algebra and geometry in phylogenetics, specially in topology reconstruction and the study of evolutionary models. At present she is the vice-chair of research in the Department of Mathematics at UPC.
