Barcelona life

CULTURE AND HISTORY

Barcelona boasts a rich cultural heritage, seamlessly blending the mediaeval history with the contemporary vibe. The city is a melting pot of different architectural styles that have shaped Barcelona’s history, with landmarks like Antoni Gaudí’s iconic buildings Sagrada Família and Park Güell, the cathedral, the Rambles or the Gothic Quarter.

CULINARY DELIGHTS

Barcelona is well known for its rich gastronomy. The city does not only offer a wide variety of Mediterranean and Spanish cuisine, but it is also a haven for fusion food lovers, rapturing them to feel great gastronomic experiences as if they were in Asia or South America. Whether exploring the bustling La Boqueria market or savouring a drink in the Eixample neighbourhood, Barcelona will always fit your culinary expectations.

SUMMER LIFESTYLE

Summer in Barcelona means embracing the Mediterranean lifestyle. From taking a swim at the Barceloneta beach to going for a walk at Passeig Marítim or lying down on the grass of Parc de la Ciutadella, Barcelona offers plenty of options to relax and enjoy the Mediterranean summer season.

ART AND MUSEUMS

For art enthusiasts, Barcelona is a treasure trove. All the city’s leading museums, such as the Picasso Museum, the Joan Miró Foundation and the National Art Museum of Catalonia, have major collections covering a vast range of artistic styles. In addition to their permanent collections, they also put on world-class temporary exhibitions. Some museums offer free admission on the first Sunday of the month.

FESTIVALS AND EVENTS

The performing arts have a strong tradition in Barcelona. The fast-paced cultural scene offers music, theatre, concerts and festivals, which intensify with the arrival of the warm weather. Some of the main events and concerts will be programmed during the Grec Festival and Cruïlla. Still, cultural activities can be found in nearly every quarter of the city throughout the summer.
